Hi from Jenny and Siân,
We are twin sisters aged 22 years old and although very different to look at we both share the same ambition - to go for Gold!
Currently we live (in the holidays that is) with our family in Caterham, a town just South of London. And this is our story!!!
We were brought up in Carrog, a small village in North Wales.
At the age of 10 we moved to Ellesmere, Shropshire where went to school at Ellesmere College. A year later we were first introduced to rifle shooting as an after school club and since then we have risen through the ranks of school teams. At the age of 12 we were invited along to our 1st GB junior development squad training weekend.
Over the next few years we both worked hard and were selected to shoot prone in the European shooting champs in Croatia, in 2000, our first big international. The following year we both competed at senior level for Wales in the Commonwealth Shooting Champs in Bisley. Over the next few years we competed in numerous internationals including World and European Champs, and for Sian the Manchester Commonwealth Games 2002.
In 2006 we had the opportunity to compete for Wales in the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne which was an awesome experience with Sian coming 4th, narrowly missing out on a medal.
Over the next three years we went our separate ways to university: Jenny to study Natural Science at Bath, and Sian Physiotherapy in Manchester.
In 2009 both degrees finish with Jenny and Sian both moving into the real world of work! Jenny has remained in science working in a vetinary lab, running tests on animal samples.
We realise that success does not happen by accident. We train almost daily fitting in shooting and gym sessions around university work, and most weekends we are training or competing.
Over our 10year shooting career we have had invaluable help from many coaches and support staff who have generously given us their time and expertise to help us achieve our dreams. Thank you. Our Mum and Dad are fully behind us in our efforts to reach the top and we owe them a big thankyou (well we wouldn’t be here at all without them!). Thanks to our big brother Peter for building and managing this website (otherwise you wouldn't be reading this!).
Over the last few years we have been lucky to have the support of both Elite Cymru (Welsh Sports Council) and British Shooting. They have provided us with both financial and medical support. However following the UK sport funding cuts anounced for shooting any funding has been drasticly cut. With equipment in need of replacing and costly ammunition and petrol bills, if you feel you can offer us support or know someone who can please don't hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
